The NBC Connecticut Jim Calhoun Cancer Challenge Ride and Walk is an annual statewide event of Coach Calhoun's to benefit The Carole and Ray Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Connecticut Health Center and Coaches vs. Cancer, a program established in 1993 by the American Cancer Society.
The ride is open to anyone over the age of 14 who wants to join Coach Calhoun in the fight against cancer. There will be non-competitive rides of 10, 25, 50 and 75 miles, with riders participating from across the Northeast.
The 5K walk is open to everyone who wants to lace up their sneakers for the cause!
This fantastic day will culminate with a summer cook-out with live music. It is a day you won't want to miss!

Fundraising Requirements for all riders over the age of 18
The minimum fundraising requirement for each rider 18 years of age and older, regardless of whether you are on a team or not, is $200. Children between the ages of 14 to 17 can participate by paying the $20 registration fee with no fundraising requirements. Due to safety concerns, children under the age of 14 can not participate.
Fundraising Requirements for all Walkers
The minimum fundraising requirement for all walkers 18 years of age and older, regardless of whether you are on a team or not, is $100. Children 17 and younger can participate by paying the $20 registration fee with no fundraising requirements.
Important Deadlines:
Online registration deadline for individuals and teams is noon on June 8, 2012. The fee to register to ride or walk is $20 (the entry fee does not count toward your fundraising minimum). Please note that no part of the registration fee for participation in the Jim Calhoun Cancer Challenge Ride and Walk is eligible for deduction for federal income tax purposes.

All gifts for the benefit of the NBC Connecticut Jim Calhoun Cancer Challenge Ride and Walk should be made payable to The UConn Foundation, Inc. The Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) corporation designated by the University of Connecticut to raise and administer private gifts and grants that support the pursuit of excellence. All contributions are used to support the donor's intention and are subject to certain administrative fees that are used to support Foundation operating expenses as well as other priority needs determined by the Health Center.
